Doug Pederson Opens Up on the Eagles, Jalen Hurts, the Philly Special & More

Super Bowl–winning head coach Doug Pederson sat down with Dan Sileo on The National Football Show for a wide-ranging, can’t-miss conversation about his time leading the Philadelphia Eagles.
From drafting Jalen Hurts to calling the legendary Philly Special, Pederson shared insight, honesty, and perspective that every Eagles fan will appreciate.
On Drafting Jalen Hurts
Pederson explained how the decision to draft Hurts came down to preparation and belief in his leadership.
“We saw something in Jalen the league didn’t,” Pederson told The National Football Show (watch the full interview here).
He described Hurts as a player whose maturity and poise stood out even as the organization faced big questions about the quarterback position.
Inside the Philly Special
Of course, the conversation wouldn’t be complete without revisiting the play that changed Eagles history.
Pederson walked through the thought process behind the Philly Special, how Nick Foles approached him during a timeout, and the confidence the team had in executing one of the boldest calls in Super Bowl history.
“Nick looked at me and said, ‘You want Philly Philly?’” Pederson recalled.

On Nick Sirianni & the Current Eagles
Pederson showed nothing but respect for Nick Sirianni, crediting the current head coach for building his own identity and continuing the winning culture in Philadelphia.
